Dr. Franz grew up in Salem Oregon, and was inspired to enter the dental profession by his father who was also a dentist. Dr. Franz received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry from the University of Oregon (Go Ducks!!). He then graduated in 1987 from the Oregon Health & Science University’s School of Dentistry. Dr. Franz is involved in both the American Dental Association, and Academy of General Dentistry. He has also chaired the Oregon Dental Association’s annual committee meeting for over 7 years. He is now serving as the Oregon Academy of General Dentists President for the 2017 year.
What he loves most about practicing family dentistry, is the relationships he has with both his patients, and long time staff. In his time away from dentistry, Dr. Franz enjoys hiking and backpacking, and he likes to read non-fiction. He has also been an avid runner since high school, competing in the Hood to Coast relay or its equivalent 18 times. He also enjoys international travel, and has had the opportunity to visit Mexico several times as well as Indonesia, Nepal, Thailand, Chile, Cambodia, Vietnam, Honduras, Peru, Bolivia, Greece, Rome, Berlin and Austria, and India. He also has quite an eye for photography, as you will see when you visit our office, from the pictures he has taken of his travels decorating our walls.
